Kevin Lee (Singapore) became the curator of the main exhibition of the festival.
The main exhibition’s curator of the festival, Odessa//Batumi Photo days in 2017 in Odessa became Kevin Lee, founder of Invisible Photographer Asia, a curator from Singapore.
The main exhibition Odessa//Batumi Photo days in 2017 in Odessa is an exhibition-research, which opens 19th of April 2017 in the premises of the main festival’s partner in Odessa, the Museum of Modern Art, Odessa.
In 2017, the Festival team decided to invite an international curator to conduct the main exposition.
The organizer and curator of the festival, Odessa//Batumi Photo days Ekaterina Radchenko, about the upcoming exhibition:
«Firstly, it is important to make the independent space and conditions for the development of Ukrainian photography. Secondly, we tried to avoid a possible “brotherhood/special relationships” and bias, by inviting a curator from Asia to conduct an independent research. Thirdly, for the third consecutive year the main exhibition is dedicated to the Ukrainian authors. Every year we discover more and more new talented names. In our opinion, it’s necessary to know and learn to respect colleagues in our country before announcing the contest for the international community».
The participation in such a competition in the way of a close cooperation with the curator from Singapore is not only a unique experience but also the opportunity to present your works in Asia in the future.
