In November 2011, for a workshop organized by Open Society Georgia Foundation Beral was for the first time in Batumi, which is hometown of her grandfathers parents. As she tells us she realized the ambition of the city to become a culture and art hub in Black Sea, seeing the museums and upcoming art spaces.
«Now, this time I am really excited to be part of the Odesa//Batumi Photo Days, a project that promotes artistic communication and collaboration in the region»,– says Beral Madra. – «I am presenting a portfolio of photography related to the title of the festival under the subtitle “Magic Inventions” which refers to the power of photography to tackle the historical and social-political issues through visual narration. I hope the public will enjoy and understand the messages we are giving through this precious visual production».
She hopes to be able to speak about the current cultural communication and collaboration between Turkey and its neighbors through art and culture events. In particular how to deal with economic and logistic problems and how to convince the politicians for a better cultural policy to enrich the and support the creative power of our countries. «Furthermore I would like to speak about the aesthetics and concepts of the photography production in general»,– says Beral Madra.
